Mike Sobolewski,
AKA Michael Anthony of Van Halen was born June 20,
1954 in Chicago, IL, the second of five children. Mike and his family
moved to Arcadia from Chicago in 1966 and Mike attended Dana Junior High
School and Arcadia High School, graduating in 1972.

Many
of us who attended AHS will remember Van Halen in the 70's, playing at
back yard parties while the helicopters shined their lights upon us. Like so many other kids with drums and guitars,
Van Halen was working the weekend party circuit to make a name for themselves.
They were one of a dozen local bands we listened to, and one in a million
who made the meteoric rise to the top of the Rock and Roll world. We pay
tribute to the good times and the groups' success that is forever a part
of Arcadia High School history. The Beatles, Hendrix, The Doors, Led Zeppelin,
and so many other bands shaped our youth. Our Van Halen memories are
unique ones, and a reminder of what life was like in the 70's and
how it shaped our future.
