KATHY WOLVECK
Any viewer of the daytime serial The Young and The Restless
is very familiar with the work of Kathy who is now known by
her married name, Kate Linder (class of 1965). Kathy attended
and graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree
in drama.
Since 1985, Kate has portrayed “Esther Valentine,”
confidant and housekeeper to “Katherine Chancellor,”
played by Jeanne Cooper (the mother of L.A. Law’s Corbin
Bernson). Other acting credits include Bay City Blues, Archie
Bunker’s Place and Dream Girl. She has also appeared in
Rocky III, One Good Cop, The PCP Story and the play Bee Luther
Hatchee. Among her other stage work are roles in Three Penny
Opera, Sweet Charity, Promises, Promises and Gypsy.
Kate is active in Big Sisters of Los Angeles, Love Is Feeding
Everyone (LIFE) and hosts a celebrity bowling tournament that
benefits both causes. She is also very active in various efforts
to raise awareness and funds related to AIDS, including TV Cares;
an AIDS charity for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
As if all that were not enough, Kate also works as a flight
attendant for United Airlines, mostly on weekends. “I
started flying with the airlines in 1978 and I never quit. I
love traveling, meeting and serving coffee to total strangers.
I’m convinced it keeps me grounded, “ Linder laughs.
Kate is married to Ronald Linder, President of American Medical
Productions, who is a world-leading expert and author on drug
abuse. They reside in Los Angeles.
